Carnation

A cultivar produced all over the globe for its aromatic and fragrant properties. The scent is notably floral, yet spicy and peppery. The secondary characteristics seem to deepen and accentuate the notes of floral. Carnation extracts blend well with rose scents — either rose extracts, or imitation rose compounds. Carnation is featured in a sizeable number of modern oriental scents.

A prized extract from the plant, carnation absolute, is only produced in a specific region situated in southern France.
