Sage

Refers to a number of unrelated and related species of aromatic flowering plants. Frequently used for culinary purposes as an herb, sage is also an important material in perfumery. Sage elements are mostly derived from the common sage cultivar, which yields an essential oil through the process of distillation. Sometimes common sage is coupled with Greek sage in order to produce the essential sage oil — this produces a fragrance profile that possesses many lavender-like attributes. The aroma is slightly culinary and herby in nature, and features distinct and bold peppery tones.
